Family Special Needs

One of the areas of focus for The Jones Family Foundation is the area of Family Special Needs. Healthy families are critical to building healthy fit organizations in the Red Wing area which provide individuals and families with temporary support for basic needs. Grants from this portfolio are funded through the Barbara Jones Special Needs Fund and the Foundation’s general grantmaking process.

Examples of grants from the Family Special Needs portfolio include:

Community Care Fund – The Community Care Fund is a collaboration of local non-profit and Hope Coalitionfaith-based organizations who contribute to a general fund that is distributed through to those in need through HOPE Coalition. The fund helps Goodhue County residents who are unable to pay for general necessities or living expenses on an emergency basis.

Women Cents - This organization generates community awareness and support of Red Wing organizations that serve children and families. Their mission is simple: Connect, Educate and Give. Through bi-annual events, women learn about the needs of women and children in the Red Wing community. Members are encouraged to make a monetary donation and 100% of these donations go back into the community to address these needs. Women Cents promotes involvement through volunteering, advocacy and other donations that may be requested by these agencies.

Red Wing Youth Outreach - The mission of Red Wing Youth Outreach is to provide intervention, education and mentoring programs for at-risk adolescents that enable them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Funds from the Family Special Needs Portfolio allow Red Wing Youth Outreach workers to provide emergency assistance to youth in crisis.

Red Wing Area Seniors – Red Wing Area Seniors, Inc. offers a variety of essential and support
services to individuals age 55 and over including legal services, Medicare counseling, support groups, along with educational and entertainment opportunities. The mission of Red Wing Area
Seniors to provide, coordinate and promote programs and services that enhance the lives of individuals and strengthen communities by sharing time, talent and enthusiasm.

Hispanic Outreach Program of Goodhue County – The Hispanic Outreach Program of
Goodhue County provides services such as advocacy, interpreting and translation services for Latino families and individuals in Goodhue County. It also promotes the integration of Latino individuals into the larger community by sponsoring programs and events to increase knowledge and understanding of life within the greater Goodhue County community.
