The vision of the Jones Family Foundation in the
area of Youth Development is to provide transformational learning, mentoring,
and character building for Red Wing youth that will positively influence
their development as citizens. We can accomplish this through funding initiatives
and
partnerships with other community organizations that provide mentoring and
experiential
opportunities for Red Wing Youth.
Red Wing Youth Outreach – The
mission of Red Wing Youth Outreach is to provide
intervention, education and mentoring programs for at-risk adolescents
that enable
them to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life.
Programming includes one-on-one and group
meetings
and activities, after school homework
help and socializing,
community service projects, young moms groups and special
activities. Red Wing Youth Outreach youth workers have
become the first line of defense in observing serious social and
health issues for at-risk youth, frequently referring students to professionals
for issues
such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Red Wing Youth Outreach
also works
to connect kids and families to healthy activities offered throughout
Red Wing and the surrounding community.
Kid Count Abused Children’s Program – Kids
Count Abused Children’s Program is a program that provides
safety and support to youth ages 0-18 who have experienced neglect,
emotional, physical or sexual abuse or those who have witnessed violence.
This
program, offered through HOPE Coalition, serves more than 300 area
youth each year, most of whom are residents of
Goodhue County.
