The Jones Family Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 to honor the legacy of Ora G. Jones, one of the Foundation’s founders, through a commitment of providing post-secondary educational opportunities to graduates of Red Wing High School and Tower View Alternative High School, both located in Red Wing, Minnesota. Ora felt strongly that educational opportunities should be offered not only to those students who have consistently maintained exceptional levels of academic achievement and extra-curricular participation, but also to those who have overcome obstacles or demonstrated future potential through academic improvement and personal growth. Ora believed, “Education is the great equalizer." As such, we encourage all graduating seniors from these schools to apply for this scholarship.
Awards are granted to students who demonstrate strength of character and achievement, as well as a desire and ability to provide service and leadership in a rapidly changing world. The advisory committee members take a very holistic approach in reviewing each application, looking at all elements of the submission, not just academic achievement.
