The Jones Family Foundation Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 to honor the legacy of Ora G. Jones, one of the Foundation’s founders, through a commitment of providing post-secondary educational opportunities to graduates of Red Wing High School and Tower View Alternative High School, both located in Red Wing, Minnesota. Ora felt strongly that educational opportunities should be offered not only to those students who have consistently maintained exceptional levels of academic achievement and extra-curricular participation, but also to those who have overcome obstacles or demonstrated future potential through academic improvement and personal growth. Ora believed, “Education is the great equalizer." As such, we encourage all graduating seniors from these schools to apply for this scholarship.
Awards are granted to students who demonstrate strength of character and achievement, as well as a desire and ability to provide service and leadership in a rapidly changing world. The advisory committee members take a very holistic approach in reviewing each application, looking at all elements of the submission, not just academic achievement.
Five scholarships will be awarded annually, four at Red Wing High School and one at Tower View Alternative High School.
Each scholarship awards up to a total $10,000 over a 4-year period, or $2,500 annually for a post-secondary scholarship at an accredited institution.
Evidence of enrollment is required.
Checks are issued to the student and the school prior to the school term, typically in the fall.
Students who are applying for the Jones Family Foundation Scholarship are required to complete our online application. See instructions on how to apply and tutorial video below. The application requires students to submit their high school transcript including GPA and class rank if applicable.
