Zach joined the Jones Family Foundation as executive director in August 2025. Zach previously served as the executive director of the Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) in Northfield, Minnesota, for 17 years. During this time, he helped oversee collaborative community initiatives ranging from increasing the high school graduation rate to expanding postsecondary education access to addressing opiate use. During his tenure, HCI grew from two staff and a budget of $150,000 to over 40 staff and an annual budget exceeding $4 million. The organization became a national leader in collective impact and received the prestigious “Bush Prize for Community Innovation.”
Most recently, Zach spent three years as the Faribault Public Schools’ Community Education & Engagement Director. As a member of the district’s Cabinet, he successfully secured and managed more than $15 million in state and federal grants, as well as oversaw the district’s early childhood, out-of-school-time, adult education, and full-service community school programming, as well as the district’s community partnerships.
Zach earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Carleton College and his master’s degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago.
Zach has two grown children and two grandchildren.
